Wildlife & Highlights
- Iconic elephant herds in open plains (Amboseli is world-renowned for free-ranging elephants)
- Mount Kilimanjaro looming behind the wildlife at dawn or dusk (weather permitting)
- Big Five sighting are possible: elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and even rhino (rare), cheetah, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, hyena.
- Birdlife: Over 400 species including flamingos, pelicans, cranes kingfishers, raptor.
- Cultural option: Maasai village experience to learn about Maasai traditions and lifestyle (if arranged separately)
Tour Plan
Distance: 4-5 km Drive Time: 4-5 hrs
Morning (07:00-08:00 hrs): Pick-up from Nairobi (hotel or airport) and drive via the Athi Plains toward Amboseli.
Midday: Arrive in Amboseli, check at your accommodation. Afternoon: First game drive through wetlands, plains and scrub – watch for large elephant herds framed by Mount Kilimanjaro if weather allows.
Evening: Return to camp for sundowner drinks, followed by dinner and overnight under the stars.
Overnight: Kibo Safari Camp or similar
Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner
Pre-dawn (05:30-06:00 hrs): Early wake-up for a sunrise game drive – prime time to see elephants, predators, birds and panoramic views of Kilimanjaro in soft morning light. Return to the lodge for breakfast, pack up and check out.
Late Morning/Afternoon: Optional game drive departure or visit Maasai village (typically arranged en- route or near the entrance, at additional cost). Arrival in Nairobi by early to mid-afternoon, followed by drop-off at hotel or airport.
